FÖLDI KINGA, textil designer
THE WORLD OF THE EAST - Exhibition at zsombrak Art Gallery
January 3rd - April 3rd 2008
The
artist allows us to see into her future plans as well, which can be
best described by the word „eclectic“, in it’s material, technique and
subjects. Maybe it’s too eclectic, perhaps unclear and chaotic?
This
is by no means an accident, as Kinga Földi’s main source of inspiration
is best decribed by one word. This inspiration is „ East“. The East is
so different from Europe that it is a refreshing, slow, mixed up,
colourful and wild world…
Her
works constantly return to this source, dipping into it and learning
from it. She doesn’t try to copy, in fact she attempts to create unique
pieces based upon and at the same time against the original works.
Her
oversized gauze based dividers and textiles are created using a unique
technique, which can be more easily categorized as fine art.
As
a woven material planner she became familiar with different types of
handiwork, which she now lovingly uses in her works. On her miniature
textiles she works on reinventing the use of lace. One of her lace
works won first place at the German Lace Association’s competition. She
thinks it is important to rediscover the use of handmade works in all
areas. Her works are unique and appear in small series‘ made of good
quality material and perfectly executed.
